Analog Rhythms Vol.2: Tropic Heat

This vinyl-only set brings together high-energy sounds from Latin America, Africa, and the diaspora. It’s a sweaty, sun-baked journey through cumbia, psychedelic guitar grooves, Afrobeat, highlife, and rhythm-forward electronics—designed for dance floors and deep listeners alike.

Every track was carefully selected for its drive, warmth, and movement. Several were acquired in the past few months, reflecting the evolving shape of my crate and a deepening curiosity for global rhythm traditions.

The Journey

We kick things off in the Amazonian heat with Sonido Verde de Moyobamba’s La Cervecita, before moving through Colombian psychedelia, futuristic takes on cumbia, and highlife grooves from Ghana. The set ebbs and flows with subtle shifts: vintage blends into contemporary, percussion gives way to melody, and back again.

This set is built for late-night dancing, tropical climates, and crate diggers who love the intersection of past and present. Whether it's rare reissues or new releases with vintage soul, Tropic Heat lives up to its name.
